HAVANA, Cuba: Brazil's President Mr. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is back in South
America after talking shop with Cuba's President Fidel Castro yesterday.
Both leaders, according to the Associated Press, ignored the issue of human rights, choosing instead to discuss business, and signing US$200 million in new business deals.
Specifics of the agreements were not immediately disclosed, but they included US$140 million in deals with private Brazilian firms to build four beach resort hotels, AP quoted Brazilian officials as saying. The other deals included private Brazilian investment in Cuba's sugar, transportation and biotechnology industries.
Both leaders also talked about the possibilities of future trade between the two nations
