Bermudans spared Juan's wrath

HAMILTON, Bermuda: The threat of a second storm is no more for Bermudans. The center of Hurricane Juan passed well to the east of Bermuda late yesterday and all tropical storm warnings were dropped for the island, forecasters at the National Weather Service reported.

Forecasters say the storm would head toward Canada, missing the United States.

Juan had sustained winds of 75 mph, just above the threshold for a hurricane, and was centered about 155 miles east-northeast of Bermuda. 

Juan, the 10th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, was expected to take a north-northwest path and strengthen in the next 24 hours, AP quoted hurricane specialist, Ms. Stacy Stewart, as saying.
